We have launched with two events, both taking part at Park House Hotel in Shifnal. One event for men and women between 35-45 and one for 45-55! Don’t worry if you’re slightly over or under those ages, this is a guide so come to the event you think is right for you.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does speed dating work?
Ladies, you will be seated at your own two-person table. This will be your table for the whole event. Men, you will then be asked to sit at one of these tables. The bell will ring, signalling the start of the first date.
You have 3-5 minutes to chat and suss each other out. You will have a dating card to make notes and to privately tick whether you would like to see the date again. At the end of the 3 minutes, the bell will ring to signal the end of the date. Men, you will then move to the next table for the next date.
There will be a 15-minute break in the middle of the event, during which you can get a drink or use the restroom.
Our hosts will collect the dating cards at the end of the event. If you have ticked yes and the person you want to see again has also ticked yes, we will exchange your details by email within 24 hours.

Please understand that we are a new business, so we are starting with a couple of events as we want to make sure this is a success. If there is not yet an event for your age group, please join our waiting list. We will be extending our dating categories and age ranges really soon and the more interest we have, the quicker this is going to happen.
How much are tickets to attend speed dating in Shropshire?
Tickets are £20 plus a small admin fee from Eventbrite.
What happens when I arrive at the speed dating venue arrive?
The venue for our first two events has a car park and is close to rail links – when you arrive between 7.30pm and 7.50pm, you will be greeted at the door by our hosts. You will be shown to the bar where you can order a drink or choose one of our themed cocktails. If you are the first to arrive, our hosts will stay with you until we can introduce you to other guests and get you chatting. You will be given a name badge and dating number and will wait in the bar with the other guests until we are ready to start the dating at 8pm.
Can I buy a drink at the venue?
The venue for the first few events is Park House Hotel in Shifnal. This has a fully stocked bar and they have a themed cocktail and mocktail available. Cocktails are £15 for two or £9 each. Mocktails are £7 for one or £13 for two. Prices are set by the venue. Please moderate your alcohol intake. Anyone acting inappropriately will be asked to leave for the safety of everyone at the event. This is at the hosts discretion and no refunds will be provided.
How do I connect with people after the speed dating event?
If you have ticked that you would like to see someone again and they have done the same, then we will send you each other’s email or phone number within 24 hours of the event finishing. You will be given a consent form to share this information at the event so you will need to indicate which you would like us to exchange.
If you have not found a match, we will still let you know and invite you to our next event.
How many dates will I have at the speed dating events?
I will not run the events unless we have sold at least 10 tickets for each gender. If there is a difference between the amount of tickets sold to each gender then there may be a small gap between a few of the dates but we will keep you company during these times so you won’t be sat on your own. We can sell up to 25 tickets for each gender but will pause the sales temporarily if one gender is selling at a much faster rate.
Will the events always be held at the same venue?
Our first few events are being held at Park House in Shifnal. This is a brand new business so we need to make sure the events are consistently great for you! To do this, it is beneficial to work with one hotel initially. Once the business is established we will be working with different hotels across Shropshire. Park House has great rail links and a big car park which appeals to us. It has also been recently renovated and has a lovely atmosphere for dating!
What happens when I enter the speed dating room?
If this is a male, female dating event then the ladies will have a designated table. This will be there table for the entire night! Tables will be numbered so ladies, you need to find the table that matches the number you were given upon arrival. Once you’re comfortable, gentleman, you will be invited through and asked to sit at the table corresponding to the dating number you were given on you way in. This is where you start.
How many minutes do we get for each date?
How will I remember details about each of my dates?
You will have a dating card – this has space to make useful notes i.e. Tony from Telford, beard, has a cat called Fluffy. You will need to take a photo of this before you leave for the evening as we need you to hand this dating card to the hosts! We use this to match you to the people who have said they also want to see you again. Don’t worry, we will remind you to take a photo of it before you leave and I will retain the copy so we will make sure you do have the information.
Do I date everyone at the event or do I choose who I want to date?
If it is a male, female dating event, you will date everyone of the opposite gender who has a ticket. This is an evening of finding the one but it is also a lovely experience to meet lots of different people in real life. Lean into the fun of the event and try to suspend the usual judgements that are so easy to make (especially when using online dating).
What if I don't get a match?
Not everyone will get a match and I know that will be disappointing. This is not something I can predict and is something no one has any control over. If you would like to speak to me about doing some 1:1 dating coaching, this is something I am considering offering in due course. You will be welcome at our future events! There is someone out there for everyone!
How do you ensure the safety of the attendees?
We do our very best to ensure your safety whilst you are at the event. The car park is well lit and you can be escorted out to your car by our hosts (please request this before 11pm as the hosts will not be around after this). Before the event, each gender will be sent a short sentence of their own that they can say to staff if they need to speak privately for any reason. The hotel and the event staff will all be aware of this. Please do not share your gender specific sentence with anyone of the opposite gender, I am sure you will agree that the safety of all guests is a priority.
Will there be time to mingle outside of the dates?
Yes! You’re welcome to arrive anytime from 7.30pm – there will be half an hour until the event starts. You are also invited to stay until 11pm (we anticipate the event will end around 10.30pm).
What if I am nervous about speed dating?
You won’t be alone with this! It is very common. You’re welcome to phone me (Pixie) or to book in a zoom call (link is on the website) so you get to know someone before you arrive. We are very friendly and will make sure you find someone to talk to in the bar before the event begins. It is normal to be nervous but i am hoping you will be both nervous and excited (nervecited) and this is usually a great feeling. Try to remember why you are going speed dating and that you could meet someone special because you were brave enough to take this step.
What happens if not enough people buy tickets?
I will not run an event unless I have sold 10 tickets to each gender, so there will be at least 10 dates (maximum of 25). However, if we were to fail to sell this many tickets, we would refund you. Judging by the demand for the first two event, I do not anticipate this to be an issue. If we have a difference in gender, I may pause the sales of one to allow the other to catch up. We try to get the different gender ticket sales as even as possible but we can not guarantee it will be an equal split. This could mean a small wait between a couple of your dates. We would never leave you on your own between dates though, you will be invited to come and gossip with the hosts during any breaks that may occur if there are any gaps between them.
Can you come if you are not within the age range stated for the dating event?
The ages stated are a guideline only. If you are just outside of the dating ages stated then you’re welcome to make that judgement call. You need to come to the right event for you whilst being mindful that others are doing the same.
Will you be hosting any other types of dating events apart from speed dating?
I hope so! I am in talks with the hotel about a possible singles games night and a summer ball. I need to ensure there is demand for these types of events. They will always be aimed at single people though as this is a community in the county that i feel is underserved. I am also in discussions about a slow dating event for over 55s. Will you be running any other dating events apart from speed dating?

You won’t be sat on your own at your table and everyone will be in the same position. We can’t avoid some differences in sales but we wanted to make it fun!
